DISCOVERY ID: SHATTERED

Discovery ID, and director Michael Smiy of mOcean, wanted to create titles for the murder investigation program SHATTERED, using in-camera FX. The goal was to capture both the show titles and projected show footage in glass as it shattered and the fragments flew through the air. Custom painted glass panes were made for each title element. At Christopher Webb’s FX WRX, the team developed a mechanical rig which allowed them to guide how the glass fractured as it was filmed in super slow motion. Motion control rigs were then used to shoot individual shards of glass as they tumbled, reflecting projections of the show footage.
