THE REEF: AFTER THE FLOOD

The Reef: After the Flood is a stop-motion animated short created by Chris and his longtime collaborator, John Jerard of Jerard Studio. The project is shot on Super 16mm film and features many in-camera effects, including handmade optical filters and animated lighting to create underwater illusions. In addition to animating, John and Chris built the set and puppet sculptures out of found objects. The film is a source of creative inspiration and a testing ground for many of the technical and artistic methods that Chris has developed and employed in other work.
